The project to reconstruct the Children's Department of the Simo Milošević Institute represents a clear and concrete response to the decades-long problem of the lack of an adequate school building in Igalo, said Minister of Public Works Majda Adžović.
In a statement regarding the reconstruction of the Children's Department and its conversion into an elementary school, she emphasized that it is much more than a construction project.
According to Adžović, this is an opportunity to give a space that has a long tradition and special significance for Igalo and Herceg Novi new value and a clear purpose, which is to become a modern school space.
"At the same time, this project represents a clear and concrete response to the decades-long problem of the lack of adequate school facilities in this part of Herceg Novi, which has become even more pronounced given the strong development of Igalo in other areas," said Adžović.
She said that the Government's activities, which are primarily reflected in the purchase of that facility and its adaptation, have for the first time provided a realistic, sustainable and long-term solution to that issue.
"Immediately after the purchase of the building, an interdepartmental commission was formed which, through systematic and responsible work, defined a series of concrete steps with the aim of, in addition to the efficient adaptation of the space, providing a permanent solution to the needs of primary school education in accordance with modern standards and strategic development priorities," said Adžović.
As she stated, this is a capital project planned for implementation this year, which is of great importance for the local community and is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI).
Adžović emphasized that their goal is to provide children with a safe, functional and pleasant space for learning and living, in accordance with modern educational standards.
"We are aware of the responsibility that such a project carries, especially when it comes to the space that will be used by children," said Adžović.
She said that this is precisely why they are approaching this project thoroughly, without shortcuts or improvisations.
"The Ministry of Public Works, in cooperation with other competent institutions, primarily the Ministry of National Heritage and the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, taking into account the status of this facility, will implement all necessary steps to implement the project according to the planned dynamics," added Adžović.
As she pointed out, by reconstructing the Children's Department, they are investing in education, children's safety, and the future of the community, leaving lasting value that will serve generations to come.
