The British Council has opened a competition for the "Women in STEM" program, which enables talented female scientists to obtain a master's degree in the United Kingdom, "with the aim of strengthening professional development and career success globally."
This year, 15 scholarships will be awarded in ten countries across Europe, including Montenegro, the statement says.
To mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11), the British Council has invited interested female candidates to apply for studies in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at prestigious universities in the United Kingdom.
"In the academic year 2026/27, a total of 15 scholarships (five at each university) will be awarded to female candidates from the Western Balkans, Turkey, Central Asia and the South Caucasus. The studies are carried out at three reputable British universities - the University of Bath, the University of Bradford and Durham University - with a wide selection of master's programs. Upon completion of their studies, the scholarship holders return to their countries to apply the acquired knowledge and experience in the development of the STEM sector," they explained.
The value of the individual scholarship is at least £40.000, and includes full tuition fees, a monthly stipend for living expenses, travel and visa costs, health insurance, as well as support for learning English. "The program provides the opportunity to study at world-renowned universities and connect with leading experts in STEM fields, as well as the British Council's global alumni network," they said.
The program is specifically designed for women who would not have the opportunity to study abroad without this scholarship. "In line with the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion, applications are open to women of all ages, provided that they meet the academic criteria for admission to the desired study program, including an appropriate undergraduate degree," the statement reads.
More information about scholarships in Montenegro is available on the website British Council Scholarships for Women in STEMThe application deadline is the end of April 2026.
