MANS: Continued stagnation in the fight against corruption in Montenegro

This is particularly problematic considering the EU integration process and the concrete results that the European Union expects from Montenegro in order to meet the key benchmarks from negotiation chapters 23 and 24, MANS points out.

This year's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) published by Transparency International shows that stagnation continues when it comes to the fight against corruption in Montenegro, the Network for the Affirmation of the Non-Governmental Sector (MANS) announced.

This, they point out, is particularly problematic considering the EU integration process and the concrete results that the European Union expects from Montenegro in order to meet the key benchmarks from negotiation chapters 23 and 24.

"The development of an anti-corruption strategy and amendments to the legal regulations have not significantly affected the perception that Montenegro is ready to deal with this problem, while their implementation remains one of the key challenges for establishing a sustainable fight against corruption," MANS announced.

They also point out that, when it comes to countries in the region, only Slovenia and Croatia are better positioned than Montenegro.
