The adaptation of the old Government building for the needs of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) and the Special Police Department (SPO) is proceeding according to plan, said Minister of Public Works Majda Adžović.
As announced by her office, Adžović said this at today's meeting of the Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom and Security, and added that the adaptation represents an important step forward in strengthening the institutional capacities of the state.
"Minister Adžović emphasized that this is a project that has been the subject of promises for years, but which is only now, for the first time, being concretely implemented, which confirms the determination of the Government of Montenegro to systematically and responsibly strengthen key state institutions," the statement reads.
Minister Adžović's Office added that the Ministry of Public Works has also taken over the furnishing of the premises, and they are expected to move to modern and functional premises that will fully meet the needs of these institutions as soon as possible.
"The works are being implemented in continuous coordination with future users, with the aim of ensuring the highest spatial, technical and security standards. Special emphasis is placed on fulfilling the obligations under Chapter 23, but also Chapter 24, which further strengthens the capacities of judicial and security institutions and strengthens the state's institutional response in the fight against organized crime," the statement concludes.
