The quick intervention of Bijelo Polje firefighters extinguished a fire on a freight train locomotive, which broke out early this morning at 2:20 a.m.
According to the commander of the Protection and Rescue Service, Edin Kolić, they received a call from the train driver that the locomotive of a freight train, which was transporting ore and was moving from Bijelo Polje towards Bar, had caught fire.
"Due to the engine catching fire, the train was forced to stop in the place Slijepac most, which further complicated access, but with the quick intervention of the firefighters and rescuers, the fire was quickly brought under control. After localizing the fire, another locomotive towed the locomotive to the Mijatovo kolo location, where a detailed inspection was carried out, with additional localization due to fears of spread, because the train contained transformer oil tanks with a capacity of 4.700 liters," said Kolić, adding that eight firefighters and rescuers participated in the intervention with two special and two technical vehicles, and the intervention lasted until 5:30 a.m.
