The Special Police Unit (SPU) showed an enviable level of readiness and proudly represented Montenegro at this year's Dubai SWAT Challenge, one of the most demanding and prestigious special forces competitions in the world, which took place from February 7 to 11 this year in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Police Directorate (PD) announced today.
"In the competition of 109 elite teams from around the world, which is a record number of competing teams since the SWAT Challenge was held, Montenegro won 26th place in the overall standings, with the best time and result of all teams from the Balkans and from all over Europe. While many countries competed with multiple teams, Montenegro was represented by one team - the elite unit of the Montenegrin police, the Special Police Unit, which successfully completed all five demanding training grounds," the statement said.
The UP added that the Montenegrin Special Police Unit, in five days of competition, demonstrated operational-tactical capability characterized by teamwork, toughness, strength, top-notch readiness, discipline, combativeness, precision and control.
"We congratulate our Special Police Unit on the extraordinary success and great result that is a source of pride for both the Montenegrin police and Montenegro," the UP statement reads.
