As someone who was born on Yerevanska Street in Podgorica, just a few minutes from the former "19. decembar" factory, I understand very well the feeling of unease and fear that has arisen among the residents of Zabjelo. In such situations, citizens must have clear answers, and institutions have an obligation to act quickly and transparently, said the president of the SNP Youth Association Podgorica Vuk Stanišić.
He expressed concern about the dilemmas that have arisen in the public, which relate to the manner in which the demolition work of the former factory is being carried out and the possible consequences for the health of citizens living in the immediate vicinity.
"I believe it is necessary for the competent authorities, primarily the inspection services and services of the Capital City, to urgently check all circumstances and publicly announce whether the works are being carried out in accordance with the study and applicable regulations, whether all health and environmental protection measures have been implemented, as well as who is in charge of professional supervision during the demolition," Stanišić said in a press release.
He said that Podgorica must be a city in which development and spatial planning are carried out responsibly, with respect for the law and with full protection of the health of citizens.
"Zabjelo deserves security, and citizens deserve truth and trust," concluded Stanišić.
