Numerous visitors from the region and the excellent atmosphere on the Herceg Novi Riviera once again confirmed that the mimosa festival is stronger than the rain, the Municipality of Herceg Novi announced.
"The decades-long tradition continued with Berba - a festival of mimosa, fish and wine at the 57th Mimosa Festival. The city band and majorettes, the Đenović Local Music Band, trombone players and masquerades performed this morning in Kumbor, Portonovo, and then in Đenovići, from where they paraded to the central festival in Baošići, where the largest number of visitors gathered. The hosts on the Novi Riviera welcomed the guests with fish, wine, priganice and barbecue, demonstrating the hospitality for which Herceg Novi is famous," the statement reads.
The Trio Mare band and the Sloga Cultural and Artistic Association performed in Đenovići, and the Stari kapetan klapa and Danijel Alibabić performed in Baošići.
"It is an honor and a pleasure for me to present my city in the most beautiful way possible. Neither rain, nor snow, nor ice can disrupt our performance, we are always happy when we can bring smiles to the people around us," said the leader of the majorettes, Andrea Kujačić.
Along with the guests, the festivities were also attended by invited guests – representatives of the diplomatic corps, friendly and sister cities of Herceg Novi, and state authorities.
Minister of Culture and Media Tamara Vujović said that the atmosphere was fantastic, and the rain was "part of the seaside charm" that did not diminish the festival mood. She praised the rich and diverse program of the 57th Mimosa Festival, stating that the festival always attracts a large number of guests and deserves significant media attention, the statement said.
The Mimosa Festival is an example of how quality organization and a good event create interesting content for tourists, which is a reason for people to visit Herceg Novi even in the winter, said Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić. She pointed out that the Mimosa Festival is important for the local economy, but also as a way to overcome seasonality in tourism through a combination with tradition and create conditions for the season to last every day of the year.
"Boško Jugović, the President of the East Sarajevo City Assembly, expressed his gratitude to the hospitable locals and organizers. He said that they are proud that Herceg Novi is their sister city and that they had the opportunity to host the Mimosa Festival caravan this year, and expressed his hope that cooperation between the two municipalities in the field of tourism will be intensified in the coming period," said the Municipality of Herceg Novi.
Saturday's program continues in the evening hours in Igalo. Weather permitting, a concert by Riblja čorba and the Yu group will be held on the plateau of the Igalo Hotel. The Zana group will perform at the masquerade ball at the Igalo Institute, along with the Toć ensemble and the new band Exodusi.
The Mimosa Festival will last until February 28th, and the program includes more than 60 entertainment, cultural, gastronomic, children's and sports events.
The sponsors and organizers of the 57th Mimosa Festival are the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Public Cultural Institution Herceg-fest and the Tourist Organization Herceg Novi, with the support of sponsors and friends of the festival.
