The Government of Montenegro, through its Ministry of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography, is doing everything possible to improve living conditions in the north of the country, said Deputy Prime Minister for Education, Science and Relations with Religious Communities Budimir Aleksić at today's meeting with the President of the Citizens' Association "Vraneš" Momo Joksimović.
The meeting, as announced by Aleksić's office, discussed the problems that affect the entire northern region of Montenegro, including the territory of the Vranje Valley, with a special emphasis on demographic problems, which is particularly manifested by the closure of schools in rural areas.
"It is important to find modalities to keep young people in the northern region, which would mitigate the current extremely negative trend of emigration. The emigration trend is best observed in the field of education, where there are fewer and fewer students in primary schools," said Aleksić.
"It is particularly indicative that in Pavino Polje, a place where nearly a thousand students once attended primary school, not a single first-grade student has been enrolled this school year," Joksimović emphasized.
Aleksić's cabinet announced that the meeting concluded that it was necessary to keep young and educated people in the north of Montenegro in order to ensure balanced regional development, which is one of the strategic goals of the current government, in which educational infrastructure plays a key role.
