The City Waterworks has warned consumers in Budva that it will begin a major campaign to disconnect from the water supply network all those whose debt for unpaid water bills exceeds one hundred euros.
"We inform consumers that in the coming period we will begin disconnecting from the distribution network users who have outstanding debts for water consumption and wastewater disposal, in the amount of more than 100 euros. In order to maintain a fair relationship with consumers, Vodovod i kanalizacija Budva offers the possibility of settling the debt through installment payments for those who are unable to settle their obligations in full," the municipal company announced.
As they emphasized, this way, exclusion measures and forced collection can be avoided.
They invited all consumers to come to the administrative building and agree on a way to settle their debts.
The city's water supply system records poor financial results year after year, and debts from citizens and businesses reach as much as 8,5 million euros in unpaid bills.
How the business performed in 2025 will only be known in March, when Vodovod is required to submit a financial statement to the Tax Administration.
The water utility ended 2024 with a deficit of 1.455.517 euros, while the year before that, in 2023, it was in the deficit of one million euros. Although this municipal company justified this at the time with depreciation due to the assessment of the value of the property, what is obvious is that the water utility is failing to collect millions of euros in receivables - 4,5 million euros from the economy, and 3,7 million euros from citizens.
A separate section refers to the claims of the Water Company from the Municipality of Budva and the users of the Municipality's budget, which as of September 30, 2024 amounted to 2.056.998,89 euros, of which the Municipality's debt is 1.027378,39 euros, while the debt of the users of the municipal budget is 1.029620,50 euros. The Municipality has taken over the payment of water consumption for the settlement "Palestina" in Grblj, which amounts to 455.953,33 euros. In addition to these debts, the Municipality of Budva also has debts for apartments owned by it in the amount of 6.252,90 euros.
