The Road Inspector of the Secretariat for Inspection Affairs of the Municipality of Tivat today issued a decision to suspend traffic on the local road route Tivat - Obala Đuraševića - Radovići, due to major damage to that road that appeared two days ago at the very entrance to Radovići from the direction of Rogač.
"The decision to suspend traffic has been made for a period of seven days. The road has been secured with appropriate traffic signals, and physical obstacles have been placed on the ground to prevent the use of the damaged section. Citizens have an alternative road available in the immediate vicinity, which can allow traffic to proceed unhindered," the Municipality of Tivat announced.
For reasons that have not yet been officially determined, a section of the road collapsed and a large hole opened in the roadway, measuring about ten square meters.
This is a section of the road that was excavated last year and a new primary water supply, sewage and stormwater network for Radovići was "pulled through". This was an investment in which the Municipality of Tivat has so far spent around 1,9 million euros. The works were carried out by the construction company "EF2ASHD" from Serbia and supervised by the company "Saminvest" from Podgorica.
Director of the Investment Directorate of the Municipality of Tivat, Vlado Brguljan, told "Vijesti" that the work was carried out under warranty, and that representatives of the contractor and supervision are expected to arrive urgently in Radovići to assess the causes of the road damage and repair it properly.
The Municipality announced that the traffic suspension on this section is in effect until the damage is repaired, and "the inspection decision is currently valid for seven days, with the possibility of its extension if the works are not completed within the scheduled time."
"In the event of earlier remediation, the ban will be lifted," the local administration of Tivat said.
The Municipality of Tivat subsequently informed the public that "activities are underway to determine the cause and repair the damage to a section of the road through Radovići, which is closed to traffic for safety reasons."
"According to initial information from the field, there was subsidence of the rock mass at greater depths. This caused the tampon to sink and damage to the asphalt. As confirmed by the Investment Directorate, a company has been hired to conduct additional geological surveys in order to obtain detailed guidelines regarding the rehabilitation. The installed utility infrastructure has not been damaged," the Municipality stated, alluding to the new water supply and sewage infrastructure for the Radovići settlement installed last year in the hull of this road.
"The road is under warranty and the repair will be carried out at the expense of the contractor," concluded the local administration of Tivat.
