The Municipality of Budva has begun the removal of illegally constructed structures in the area of the "Lugovi" stadium, at the very entrance to the city, thus beginning the implementation of the long-awaited action to redevelop that part of the city, the Mayor of the Municipality, Nikola Jovanović, told "Vijesti".
As stated, these are buildings with a total area of more than 3.000 square meters, some of which were built several decades ago without the necessary permits and in violation of valid planning documentation. The space, as they point out, has been undeveloped for years, infrastructurally neglected and inconsistent with the planned purpose of that part of the city, which is intended for public facilities.
The construction of these facilities was previously publicly linked to Boro Lazović, former president of the Budva branch of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), former head of the local assembly and long-time leader of the now defunct Mogren football club.
According to available information, Lazović submitted requests for the legalization of the disputed buildings in previous years, trying to subsequently provide them with legal status, but the local administration rejected such requests because the legally prescribed conditions for legalization were not met.
The Mayor emphasized that the removal of illegal structures is not only a matter of law enforcement, but also of creating a space that will have lasting value for the community, primarily for children and families.
A large, modernly designed children's park will be built on the site of the illegal buildings, which will represent one of the central public spaces for the youngest in Budva. The park is designed as a functional and well-maintained unit with several thematic zones, playgrounds for different ages, spaces for free play, educational and creative content, as well as areas for parents to relax.
The plan is to install modern and safe play equipment, create special protective surfaces, decorate green areas with a large number of new seedlings, and create facilities that will allow for the unhindered movement and gathering of citizens. Special attention will be paid to landscape architecture so that the space has both aesthetic and ecological value, with the aim of becoming a kind of green oasis in an urban part of the city.
The project also includes modern lighting, street furniture, water fountains, benches, as well as facilities that will enable all-day use of the space, while access paths and the layout of devices will be adapted to people with developmental disabilities, aiming to ensure complete inclusivity.
"This is not just the removal of illegal construction, but the return of space to its true purpose, to serve citizens. Budva is getting a well-maintained, safe and modern children's park that will be a place for new generations to play, socialize and grow up," said Jovanović.
The Municipality emphasizes that this project is part of a broader strategy for urban planning and protection of the public interest, through which other neglected or unplanned locations will be gradually transformed into well-maintained public spaces, with a special focus on facilities intended for children, recreation, and a better quality of life for the local community.
