Owners must remove old cars: From March 1st, parking fees will start in Pljevlja behind the post office

Parking charges at the newly opened parking lot in the second zone, behind the post office in Prijepoljska Street, will begin on March 1st, announced the Pljevlja-based company "Čistoća", which manages the city's parking lots.

The period until the start of charging is planned to allow users enough time to become familiar with the new payment methods and the organization of parking spaces.

Appropriate signs and instructions will be placed in the parking area so that citizens are informed in a timely manner before the start of charging.

DOO "Čistoća" appeals to citizens to remove vehicles without license plates that are currently in the parking lot.

From March 1, citizens will no longer be able to pay for parking via SMS messages, and in the future, parking payment will be possible exclusively via the GO2Park mobile application, as well as by purchasing parking tickets at kiosks.

Payment will also be possible at the payment machines located in Kralja Petra I, Mila Peruničića streets and in the garage on Trg "13. jul"

The decision to abolish parking payment via SMS messages, as explained by the Parking Service, was made due to high fixed monthly costs and commissions for each transaction, which makes the SMS payment model, as they claim, financially unsustainable in the long term.

Additional reasons for the abolition of this payment method relate to the need for greater efficiency, transparency, and alignment with modern European standards of digital utility services.

As a replacement for the previous system, a modern payment method has been implemented using the mobile application "GO2Park", which allows users to pay for parking simply, quickly and securely using Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards. The application is available on the Google Play and App Store platforms.

"Čistoća" states that the introduction of the mobile application is part of a broader process of digitalizing parking services, which includes a comprehensive software upgrade of existing parking meters.

"The software upgrade was implemented in cooperation with the partner company "Penta Sistemi" from Croatia, which gave the parking meters new functionalities, including the ability to pay for open parking spaces. In this way, the parking payment system in Pljevlja has been rounded off and aligned with modern European standards, taking into account accelerated technological development and the increasing number of foreign visitors," the company claims.

The plans for 2026 also envisage the renewal of the contract for the maintenance of the entire parking system, given that it is a sophisticated technical equipment that requires continuous upgrading and rapid troubleshooting. At the same time, it is planned to fully complete the functionality of the “smart” parking system, which will allow closed parking lots to function with minimal human involvement, while operational capacities in the field will be focused on more efficient coverage of open parking spaces, especially in the II parking zone.

One of the planned measures to improve the system is the installation of intercoms with the possibility of card payments at the exit from closed parking lots, as well as the establishment of direct communication between users and the operator on duty in case of problems.

During 2026, the company will continue to issue additional tickets to users who use parking spaces contrary to applicable regulations, and it is also planned to introduce devices for temporarily blocking vehicles (“handcuffs”) for users with a large number of outstanding obligations, after the adoption of amendments to the Law on Road Traffic Safety.

In addition to the existing 283 general and 68 special public parking lots, the company has made new parking lots available to users in Mila Peruničića Street with 35 parking spaces. A parking lot near the “Eko bajka” kindergarten in Voja Đenisijevića Street with 33 parking spaces is also in operation. A parking lot in Boljanićka Street behind the old knitwear factory building has also been introduced into the payment system. The parking lot has a total of 25 parking spaces. A parking lot in Skopljanska Street with a capacity of 8 parking spaces has also been put into operation, as has a parking lot in Omer Bega Bajrovića Street with 9 parking spaces.
