The evacuation flight of Montenegrin citizens who were on holiday in Jordan and Egypt was successfully organized and the plane with over 70 passengers departed from the airport in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, for Podgorica, announced Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović.
In a statement to the media, he stated that this was the first evacuation flight of Montenegrin citizens for which the Government of Montenegro, together with Air Montenegro, managed to organize a charter flight.
Ibrahimović announced the organization of another charter flight with Fly Dubai, which will transport all interested Montenegrin citizens, about 160 of them, from the United Arab Emirates to Podgorica tomorrow.
He recalled that we are witnessing an escalation of the security situation and rising tensions in the countries of the Middle East.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which I head, is making maximum efforts to ensure timely communication and provide necessary assistance to our citizens who are in the Gulf countries and who wish to return to Montenegro, in constant communication with our colleagues from the embassies of Montenegro, competent consulates and honorary consuls," said Ibrahimović.
He called on all Montenegrin citizens to follow the service information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as instructions from local authorities.
"I hope that the situation will de-escalate as soon as possible and that our citizens will soon be safely taken care of in their homes," Ibrahimović said.
