Podgorica's Agency for Protected Areas Management is moving below Gorica?

The Podgorica Agency for the Management of Protected Areas (AZUP) could move to the foot of Gorica Hill by the end of June - to a facility once used by the Shooting Association of Montenegro, "Vijesti" has learned.

As the editorial office was unofficially told by AZUP, the Agency had "been considering a possible relocation for a long time and had been listening to the needs of the employees of that company."

"Currently, the premises of the Shooting Association of Montenegro are being arranged. The renovation of the premises is underway. The Agency should move to the foot of Gorica by the end of June. The prefabricated facility - a house for ranger services, which was installed last year, will remain on the top of the hill and will serve the needs," "Vijesti" was told.

From the Agency, whose acting (acting) director is Dalibor Zecevic, said that they are continuously considering opportunities to improve the organizational and operational capacities of the services:

"For the purpose of more efficient management and protection of protected areas in the territory of the Capital City".

They emphasized that "in the coming period, they will consider the possibility of moving to the vicinity of Gorica Hill."

"All this for the sake of more efficient management, as well as faster reactions in the field and continuous monitoring of the situation in the protected area. If there are any concrete decisions regarding this issue in the coming period, the public will be informed about it in a timely manner," said the AZUP.

Several residents of Beogradska Street in Podgorica noticed that, near the Small Sports Stadium, a plot of land that had been neglected and overgrown with bushes for years had been cleared.

In the responses they provided to "Vijesti", the Agency emphasized that "that plot is owned by a legal entity."

"The subject plot is located in a protective zone, for which the owner has the necessary documentation to carry out activities. More precisely, he has a permit to undertake actions and activities from the competent administrative body - the Agency for the Management of Protected Areas. We would like to point out that all activities at that location are carried out under the constant supervision of professional services and our Agency, in order to ensure compliance with the prescribed protection measures," the Agency announced.
