"Never worse parking situation": The Budva Old Town Local Community again appeals to the authorities

The Council of the Local Community of Stari Grad Budva announced that the situation with the organization of parking spaces in the Old Town area is alarming, especially in locations near Pizana and the old bus station.

"Despite multiple letters and initiatives we have sent to the Budva Parking Service, to date we have not received a single response, nor has a meeting been organized with representatives of the Stari Grad Local Community. We consider this attitude to be extremely irresponsible and unacceptable, especially considering the seriousness of the problems that citizens face every day. The situation on the ground has, without any exaggeration, never been worse. The parking lot at Pizana and the Port Authority operates without clear rules, without adequate marking and without control. The ramp that was moved from its original location currently has absolutely no function, because the Parking Service workers allow passage to almost any vehicle, which completely renders the access control system meaningless," they point out in the letter.

Of particular concern, they say, is the fact that vehicles drive along the promenade every day, which poses a serious safety risk for all citizens, especially children.

"We warn that this practice can have tragic consequences and that it is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. In addition, the damaged street near Perla, which collapsed due to construction work and has not been repaired to this day, is also a problem. According to available information, repairs are being delayed until the investor completes the building up to road level, which is unacceptable for residents, as they face difficult movement and additional safety risks on a daily basis," the Local Community says.

They remind that in the previous period they requested a review of issued parking passes, a clear definition of priorities (residents, elderly people, people with disabilities), as well as transparent insight into the way the parking zone is managed.

"We have also submitted specific proposals for solutions, but without any reaction from the authorities. We strongly deny the claims that the citizens of the Old Town are satisfied with the current situation. On the contrary, dissatisfaction is enormous and growing every day. Once again, we call on the authorities from the Parking Service, the Municipality of Budva and other institutions to urgently react and organize a meeting with the Council of the Old Town Local Community, in order to finally address this long-standing problem.

Otherwise, we will be forced to take more decisive steps to protect the interests and safety of the citizens of the Old Town," the Local Community concluded.
