The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI) announced today that the Government of Montenegro has adopted the Information on Montenegro's accession to the European Research Infrastructure for Biobanks and Biomolecular Resources, BBMRI ERIC.

This, as announced by that government department, has paved the way for our country's inclusion in one of the most significant European networks in the field of biomedical research.

"BBMRI ERIC is a leading European research infrastructure that connects biobanks, research centers and healthcare institutions across Europe, enabling access to high-quality biological samples and related health data. This infrastructure plays a key role in research into malignant and rare diseases, genetics and genomics, personalized medicine, as well as in improving public health," the MPNI statement said.

The Ministry added that this initiative was launched based on the initiative of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montenegro, with the consent of the Council for Scientific Research, and represents an important step in strengthening national capacities in the field of biomedicine and the development of research infrastructure in Montenegro.

"Montenegro's inclusion in BBMRI ERIC contributes to strengthening international scientific cooperation, improving the quality of biomedical research, and greater integration of the Montenegrin research system into the European Research Area (ERA)," it concludes.
