Congratulations on the occasion of Bosniak Day

Today is Bosniak Day in Montenegro.

On this occasion, politicians, parties, and organizations sent congratulations.

Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mirsad Nurković sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of March 22, the Day of Bosniaks in Montenegro.

"This date reminds us of an important historical moment when, more than two decades ago, the Declaration on the Reaffirmation of the National Name Bosniak was adopted in Podgorica, which confirmed a clear awareness of one's own identity, language and cultural heritage. Bosniaks in Montenegro, as an indigenous and state-forming people, through their history and contemporary activities confirm their commitment to preserving their identity, but also their strong dedication to building a multiethnic, democratic and European society. It is precisely in this synergy of diversity that the strength of our state lies," said Nurković.

The institutions of the system, he adds, have an obligation to continue to further improve the position of the Bosniak people, especially in the areas of education, culture and public information, as well as through strengthening institutional mechanisms that will protect and develop cultural and spiritual heritage in the long term.

The Bosniak Party sent congratulations to all Bosniaks in Montenegro on the occasion of Bosniak Day in Montenegro.

"On this day, we proudly recall the historic decision to adopt the Declaration on the Reaffirmation of the National Name Bosniak, which confirmed the commitment to the return of the traditional and historical name of this people. Since then, Bosniaks in Montenegro have borne the national name Bosniak, and speak their native, Bosnian language, which permanently connects us with other compatriots living in other countries in the region. As an indigenous and state-forming people in Montenegro, Bosniaks have always been on the side of a civil, democratic and European Montenegro, and have shown this with concrete decisions when it came to the restoration of independence, voting for NATO membership and today, by providing a strong contribution to the EU integration of Montenegro," the Bosniak Party announced.

Congratulations from the Bosniak Council

The Bosniak Council in Montenegro congratulated March 22nd, the Day of Bosniaks in Montenegro.

"Prominent and self-aware representatives of the Bosniak people, gathered in Podgorica 23 years ago, adopted the Declaration on the Reaffirmation of the National Name Bosniak, which confirmed the commitment to the return of the traditional and historical name of this people, and that is why March 22nd is one of the most important dates for Bosniaks in Montenegro," the Bosniak Councils announced.

They add that their compatriots have accepted the national name Bosniak and the name of their native Bosnian language in all population censuses in Montenegro.

"This only confirms the fact that we are part of a unique Bosniak body, living in different countries in the region, but with the same national, linguistic, spiritual and cultural identity. Members of the Bosniak people live in their centuries-old homelands, indigenous and established in the territory of the state of Montenegro, with full awareness and commitment to the need to preserve their national identity, in a multiethnic and democratic society," it was announced.

In the previous period, they added, significant steps have been made towards social affirmation and the preservation of the cultural and identity specificities of Bosniaks in Montenegro.
