The increase in utility prices for business people in Nikšić represents a serious attack on the local economy, which threatens to jeopardize the survival of small and medium-sized enterprises, but also indirectly has a very negative impact on the standard of living of citizens, the Municipal Board of the Civic Movement URA Nikšić assessed.
As added in the statement, the decision to drastically increase utility bills for legal entities comes at a time when the economy is struggling with global inflationary shocks, and the Municipality of Nikšić, instead of creating an encouraging environment, is burdening those who fill the budget with additional taxes.
The Nikšić GP URA points out that this increase in utility bills represents a serious burden on the economy, which could lead to an increase in the prices of all products and services, as well as the loss of a certain number of jobs. They add that this is precisely why the guild will pay for all citizens of Nikšić through an increase in the cost of living.
"We believe that solving the budget deficit at the expense of local entrepreneurs is a short-sighted policy, and that the local business community needs support, not additional burdens that stifle the entrepreneurial spirit. It is precisely decisions like these that influence the departure of investors from our city, but also encourage a move into the gray zone, which harms both the city and the state in the long run," they said in a statement.
"The goal of every responsible government should be to improve the business environment through incentives and subsidies, not by introducing new taxes that make doing business more difficult. Nikšić's businessmen must have a partner in the Municipality, not an opponent," conclude GP URA Nikšić.
