Member of the Presidency of the Civic Movement URA, Ljiljana Jokić Kapa, said that the party proposes launching a national, systemic and sustainable program called "Active Children of Montenegro - Swimming and Skiing for All".

"Swimming and skiing are skills that are a luxury in Montenegro. And these are skills through which children would return to playing and socializing in nature, improve children's health and physical activity. This is an opportunity to direct them towards healthy lifestyles. The results of such an approach are healthier and more active children, developed school sports, a strong connection between education, tourism and local development," Jokić Kapa stated in a press release.

She emphasized that Montenegro is a country with exceptional natural potential, seas, rivers, lakes and mountains, and yet, despite these advantages, we are faced with the paradox that a significant number of children complete primary education without basic swimming skills, as well as without any experience of being in the snow or in winter sports.

"We propose policies that aim to create a fair and safe system for all children in Montenegro. Through the Active Children of Montenegro program, every child would learn to swim and ski, and that would not cost parents a cent. Parents are the ones who have the primary role in a child's upbringing and development, but the second most important role is that of the state, or the system that must ensure the healthy upbringing of every child," said Jokić Kapa.

A member of the GP URA explained that this program would be implemented through the coordination of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Tourism, local governments, sports associations and licensed instructors.

"Let's make it our common goal to ensure that every child acquires basic swimming and skiing skills through the education system, regardless of which region they come from and regardless of their social status," she concluded.
