At the Urology Clinic of the Clinical Center (KCCG), two operations using the percutaneous nephrolithopaxy (PCNL) method were successfully performed for the first time today, the health institution said, adding that the introduction of this method represents a significant step forward in the field of urological surgery.
The KCCG announced that the Urology Clinic continues to improve its professional and therapeutic capacities, with the aim of providing modern health services to patients in Montenegro.
Today, as stated in the statement, consultant Mirko Jovanović from the Military Medical Academy (MMA) in Belgrade visited the Clinic.
"On that occasion, in cooperation with a team of our urologists, led by Eldin Šabović and Nenad Radović, instrument operators Lazar Popović and Marko Dašić, with the help of anesthesiologist Jelena Višnjić and anesthesiologist Slobodan Radović, two operations were successfully performed using the PCNL method," the statement says.
It was explained that this is a modern, minimally invasive procedure in the treatment of renal calculi, which has not been performed in the KCCG, nor in the public healthcare system of Montenegro.
"The introduction of this method represents a significant step forward in the field of urological surgery and directly contributes to improving the quality of healthcare," the statement said.
The KCCG said that Jovanović's visit was carried out as part of the ongoing activities that the KCCG Urology Clinic is conducting with the aim of educating staff and introducing new procedures into regular practice.
"The ultimate goal is for this method to be performed completely independently by our urologists in the coming period," added the KCCG.
As they stated, until now, patients from Montenegro who needed this type of procedure were referred for treatment abroad.
"The introduction of the PCNL procedure at KCCG significantly improves the availability of healthcare services, shortens waiting times and reduces treatment costs, while simultaneously increasing comfort and safety for patients," the statement said.
It is announced that the Urology Clinic of the KCCG will continue with further development and introduction of modern medical procedures, with the aim of raising the standards of healthcare in Montenegro.
