Return to the construction site in Zagorič by the end of the month

The Agency for Construction and Development of Podgorica claims that work on the multifunctional facility in Zagorič, after a several-month break, will continue until the end of this month, and the rough work so far, they say, cost almost 1,85 million euros.

"Vijesti" announced two days ago that work on the facility in Ulica devete crnogorske brigade has been suspended since the end of December last year, and that the construction site is deserted, without workers and construction machinery from the contractor, the company "Gradnja promet" from Danilovgrad, even though the project is worth more than 3,4 million euros.

The facility, which is planned to house a health center dispensary, post office, local community center, and other facilities intended for the needs of the residents of Zagorič, was supposed to be completed within 18 months from the start of construction - in the summer of last year, but the project has faced delays and technical problems from the beginning.

The Agency explains that the work began on January 22, 2024, but that problems arose right from the start.

"At the very beginning, the work did not proceed at the desired pace because the construction site connection to the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS) was awaited for over eight months. The connection to the water supply and sewage system was also controversial," the institution stated.

Additional complications, they say, arose during the works, when the contractor pointed out the inconsistency of certain phases in the project, which is why their coordination with the designer is underway. As they said, in the meantime, the construction has also been rationalized, which has resulted in certain financial savings.

The works, as they specified, were officially suspended on December 31st of last year, at the initiative of the contractor.

"The contractor informed us in writing that they would suspend work due to changes to the mechanical installation project," the Agency stated, adding that the changes were made to rationalize the investment and were reported to the Ministry.

From the institution he manages Bajko Vucicevic They specified that so far the rough construction work, water and sewage installations, as well as external joinery, have been completed, while the installation of the roof covering has also begun, thus closing the building from the outside.

The interior of the building, they claim, has been plastered over.

The remaining work, they explain, is on thermotechnical installations, final construction and craft work, installation of sanitary facilities and electrical equipment, as well as landscaping the grounds.

The Agency expects "to overcome existing inconsistencies and continue work with the existing contractor."

The Agency claims that all work carried out so far has been paid for at the contracted prices from 2023, and that it has been certified by supervising engineers in phases.

"The works were certified by supervising engineers for each individual phase of the works, successively, according to the dynamics of execution, through temporary payment situations," they stated, adding that the competent Agency officials checked the unit prices and gave approval for payments.

The company "Gradnja Promet" did not express its position, although questions were sent to them on March 24th.
