Montenegro, through its participation in the COST program, is committed to the development of science and international cooperation, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI) announced, emphasizing that participation in the program provides significant opportunities for domestic researchers.
The Ministry of Science and Technology said that the 227th meeting of the Committee of High Representatives (CSO) of the COST Association, which brings together representatives of member states responsible for the strategic management of the COST program, was held at the Science and Technology Park in Podgorica.
The president of the association, Ase Gornitzka, pointed out that COST represents a unique mechanism for connecting researchers and institutions across Europe.
She, as stated in the statement, particularly emphasized the program's inclusiveness and openness towards researchers from different scientific fields and career stages.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Tatjana Ćalasan expressed her satisfaction that Montenegro is hosting this important gathering.
"In her address, she emphasized Montenegro's commitment to the development of science and international cooperation, emphasizing that participation in the COST program provides significant opportunities for domestic researchers," the statement said.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said that during the two-day session, key strategic, financial and management topics relevant to the further development of the COST program were discussed.
As stated by the department, progress regarding open calls, as well as improvements in the process of submitting, evaluating and selecting projects, was presented as part of discussions on future activities.
The statement states that a special contribution to the program was made by the representative of COST action CA22146, Amil Orahovac, who, through his presentation, presented concrete experiences and results of participation in COST actions.
"His testimony further illustrated the importance of the COST network in strengthening international cooperation, knowledge exchange and the professional development of researchers, especially in the early stages of their careers," the statement said.
The Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation, in cooperation with the COST Association, also organized a COST Info Day, with the aim of informing researchers in Montenegro about the role of COST in promoting and disseminating research excellence, as well as the role and impact of the Programme.
The Director General of the Directorate for Scientific and Research Activities, Marica Melović, emphasized the importance of networking and international cooperation for the development of science and research in Montenegro.
She emphasized that the COST program represents one of the key platforms for connecting domestic researchers with European and global partners.
As stated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Director of the COST Association, Ronald de Bruin, presented the role of COST in promoting and spreading research excellence in Europe and beyond, emphasizing the openness of the program to different scientific disciplines and researchers at all stages of their careers.
"Special focus is placed on the importance of interdisciplinarity and the creation of strong international networks," the statement said.
