The Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) announced that it has provided support to the Mountain Rescue Service (GSS) of Montenegro again this year, donating 55.000 euros for search and rescue (SAR) activities.
As stated in the statement, the Director of the Agency, Ivan Šćekić, during his visit to the GSS in Nikšić, emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with this service, which operates on a voluntary basis.
"By supporting the Mountain Rescue Service, we contribute to strengthening readiness for emergency interventions, the safety of citizens, and thus the overall security within the civil aviation system," said Šćekić.
During the visit, the Agency's Director and Assistant Director for Safety, Relief and Search and Rescue Krsto Pavićević were presented with the results of the GSS's work, the current staffing situation, equipment and planned training, according to the CAA statement.
The Head of the Mountain Rescue Service of Montenegro, Željko Loncović, thanked the CAA for its continued support, emphasizing that it represents a key source of funding for the activities of the GSS.
"Funds from the CAA allow us to operate more efficiently in inaccessible terrain, provide specialized training and modernize equipment, which directly affects the speed and safety of our interventions," said Loncović.
The cooperation agreement stipulates that the funds will be directed to strengthening operational capacities, training and procurement of equipment, the CAA announced. The GSS also participates in the search and rescue system, including missions to search for missing aircraft in mountainous and other inaccessible areas.
