A major campaign to clean key roads and remove illegal waste across Montenegro in preparation for the summer season began today with an action at the Debeli Brijeg border crossing, the European House announced.
As stated, the action is being carried out as part of the national campaign "Take care, let it take care of you", and activities continue along the main roads towards the coast, with a focus on concrete and visible problems.
The European House said that the Debeli Brijeg border crossing has announced the development of space and the improvement of conditions for transport and logistics, with an emphasis on the importance of well-maintained and functional border crossings as the first impression for visitors entering Montenegro.
"A large amount of illegally dumped waste tires is being removed in the Orjen area, which represents one of the largest recorded locations of this type in the country," the statement said.
It is added that this action marks the beginning of an organized approach to solving the problem of waste tire disposal and disposal.
"In the Lipci area in the municipality of Kotor, site cleaning and additional landscaping are being carried out, including the installation of signage, urban equipment and a surveillance system, in order to prevent the re-formation of illegal landfills," the European House said in a statement.
As they said, clean-up actions are being organized in Tivat and the Luštica area with the participation of local services, volunteers and civil society organizations, while special attention is being focused on the location in the immediate vicinity of Tivat airport, where a new illegal waste dump has been identified at the entrance to one of the busiest transport hubs in the country.
"These activities are being carried out in cooperation with state institutions, local governments, utility services, the civil sector and private partners, as part of the "Protect and Let It Protect You" campaign, launched by the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro," the statement says.
The European House said that the goal is clear - to improve the appearance and orderliness of the area along roads, remove illegal waste, and establish regular maintenance practices at locations that are most visible to citizens and visitors.
"In the coming period, similar activities are planned to be implemented throughout Montenegro, with a focus on priority locations along main roads, in order to ensure higher standards of organization and environmental protection in preparation for the tourist season," the statement concludes.
