Montenegro needs modern and quality education, not ideological experiments, said Jovana Vuković, a member of the Main Board of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and representative of the European Alliance.
"The data published by the CCE clearly shows a devastating picture - more than half of citizens have only secondary education, while higher education remains unattainable for a large part of society. These data clearly speak of the continued neglect of education. Instead of creating more opportunities for young people, improving the quality of teaching and linking education to the labor market, the authorities are offering the wrong priorities," the statement reads.
She said that attempts to introduce religious education "further confirm the neglect of the system and deepen already existing social divisions."
"While young people are leaving because they do not see a future, and the education system is stagnating, the government is choosing topics that do not solve any real challenges. Montenegro needs modern and quality education, not ideological experiments," the statement reads.
