The parliamentary majority in Danilovgrad has requested the Government to allocate land to the family of soldier Dejan Božović, who lost his life last summer during a firefighting operation near Podgorica, in order to permanently resolve their housing issue, said the Mayor of the Municipality, Aleksandar Grgurović.

"Our fellow citizen, soldier Dejan Božović, lost his life fighting fires that swept through our area, protecting people, property and the space in which we live. In that act, which goes beyond the limits of official duty, the highest measure of responsibility, courage and loyalty to the community was demonstrated. Based on that fact, but also on the clear institutional and moral obligation we have, the parliamentary majority in the Municipality of Danilovgrad has sent a request to the Government of Montenegro that the family of the tragically deceased Božović be granted land ownership, with the aim of permanently resolving their housing issue and ensuring safe and dignified living conditions," Grgurović wrote on Facebook.

He says it is essential that "such actions do not remain at the level of expressions of condolences and symbolic gestures."

The attitude towards those who made the greatest sacrifice, as Grgurović said, must be measured by the concrete actions of institutions, and caring for Božović's family "is not a matter of choice, but a matter of responsibility, consistency and elementary justice."

"In that sense, I expect the competent state institutions to consider this initiative with special attention and a sense of duty that such circumstances require, and to find an adequate and permanent solution as soon as possible. Danilovgrad does not forget its heroes. Their sacrifice remains a permanent obligation for all of us - to be worthy of what they did for us," said Grgurović.
