Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Joanikije, and his clergy served the Easter hierarchal liturgy this morning in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica, with the presence of the faithful.
According to Media Biro, representatives of the most important state functions gathered in the Podgorica temple, including Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandić with their wives.
The liturgy was also attended by the Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, and the President of the Capital City Assembly, Jelena Borovinić Bojović.
"We heartily congratulate all Orthodox believers on the greatest Christian holiday - Easter. Christ is risen!", Spajić wrote on Iks.
Mandić said he was proud that the message of today's holiday "is also being conveyed by other high-ranking state officials."
"Montenegro, together with the rest of the Orthodox world, is celebrating the Resurrection of Christ today, the eternal victory of life over death and light over darkness. It is a special honor for me to have participated this morning in the Easter liturgy served by the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, Mr. Joanikije. I am proud that today's joyful and powerful message of the Risen Christ, together with the numerous faithful people, is being conveyed by other high-ranking state officials, because exactly as the Savior taught us, we are leading the new Montenegro towards a better future, taught by the ideas of philanthropy, forgiveness and reconciliation. Christ is risen - He is truly risen," Mandić wrote.
