The capital city of Podgorica and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation signed a memorandum of cooperation today, announcing that this form of cooperation will enable the implementation of "numerous projects, especially in the area of renovation of school playgrounds and yards."
This was announced from the capital.
As they stated, this officially marked the beginning of a new phase of joint activities aimed at improving educational infrastructure and conditions for children in schools and kindergartens.
The Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, emphasized that this memorandum represents an important step towards creating a better environment for the youngest.
"I am very pleased that today the Capital City signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation. In this way, we are opening a new chapter in our cooperation, focused on the future, and children are our future and everything we do, we do for their good, and the appearance of schools and schoolyards is certainly something that determines the quality of the work of the city administration," he said.
Mujović emphasized that this form of cooperation will enable the implementation of numerous projects, especially in the area of renovation of school playgrounds and yards.
"Our wish is to improve the school playgrounds and playgrounds of primary and secondary schools in the territory of Podgorica through this contract. This is a continuation of the activities we are already implementing, and the city company Putevi has invested around 300.000 euros in the rehabilitation of school infrastructure in the past year, while Zelenilo has worked on the arrangement of school playgrounds. Also, the Capital City, through decisions of the Capital City Assembly, has allocated 38.000 m2 of area for the construction of new capacities for schools and kindergartens," Mujović emphasized, adding that in the coming period, activities will be further intensified with the support of the relevant Ministry and the Government.
"We will continue even more strongly in this direction and I believe that Podgorica will become a true oasis of education, where our youngest, students and high school students will have optimal conditions for learning and improvement," said Mujović.
Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović assessed that this memorandum marks a new stage of cooperation between the state and local levels.
"This is a new phase of cooperation between the Government of Montenegro, the relevant ministry and the Capital City. As is known, we have ambitious plans when it comes to educational infrastructure, and thanks to this memorandum, the focus in the coming period will be on schoolyards of primary and secondary schools, as well as kindergartens," she said.
She emphasized that the goal is to, in addition to the construction and reconstruction of facilities, pay special attention to spaces where children spend a significant amount of time.
"We also want to improve the space where children spend their holidays and free time. In the coming days, we expect good news related to the renovation of the courtyards of individual elementary schools in the city zone, followed by the implementation of other projects," said Jakšić Stojanović, adding that "the common goal of all institutions is to create better conditions for the growth and education of children."
