A fire has been burning in the village of Brestice near Nikšić for the third day, and locals, with the help of firefighters, are managing to defend their houses and properties.

As they state, the Fire Department from Nikšić plays a key role, while the situation is further deteriorating due to strong winds and drought, so there is a danger of the fire spreading further if it does not rain soon.

Locals point out that there is a lack of reaction from the competent institutions, including the Forestry Administration, the police, and relevant ministries, and warn that similar fires are repeated every year without determining the cause and responsibility.

They are appealing for an urgent state response to protect nature and prevent greater damage.
