The Municipality of Bijelo Polje repaired a part of the road that was destroyed by river sediments in the village of Rakita near Bijelo Polje, as Vijesti wrote about earlier.

This was confirmed to "Vijesti" by the Secretary of the Secretariat for Housing, Communal Affairs and Transport of the Municipality, Duško Ružić, and the problem of locals who could only reach their homes by tractors was also pointed out by the councilor of Democratic Montenegro in the Municipal Assembly (MA) of Bijelo Polje, Marko Đukić.

The works were carried out by the utility company "Lim".

The road from Božovića Polje to Rakita was completely destroyed by the rainfall and some locals could only reach their homes by tractors.

Local resident Maksim Nišavić explained earlier that the road was damaged in two places, with a total length of about one hundred meters.

Đukić told "Vijesti" today that this is an example of how problems can be solved when there is a will and when institutions do their job.

"I would like to emphasize that this time too, the competent secretariat, led by Secretary Ružić, came out to meet the needs of the locals and took concrete steps to prevent greater damage and the complete isolation of this area," said Đukić.

He pointed out that the road has not been completely repaired and that the remaining repairs are two smaller bridges and the riverbed itself, which were additionally damaged by the concessionaire's actions.

"This is a problem that requires equal urgency and responsibility, which is why we expect the same promptness from those in charge in resolving this issue. It is important that situations like this do not wait for escalation, but that they react immediately, because infrastructure is not a political issue, but an issue of citizens' everyday lives," said Đukić.
