The President of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Parliamentary Group in the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Nikolić, congratulated the Victory over Fascism Day on behalf of the DPS Parliamentary Group.

"Today, May 9, on Victory Day over Fascism, we pay tribute with deep respect to all the fighters and victims who have woven their lives into the foundations of a free Europe and a free Montenegro. Montenegrins were among the first peoples of Europe to rise up against fascism, and that is why the July 13th Uprising remains a lasting symbol of the courage, dignity and defiance of our people," said Nikolić.

He added that our anti-fascist tradition is not just a historical fact — it is the moral vertical of contemporary Montenegro and part of its state identity.

"Today, when across Europe and the region we are once again faced with attempts to relativize crimes, historical revisionism, hate speech and divisions that are reminiscent of the darkest periods of the past, the obligation of all responsible political actors is to clearly and without calculation stand in defense of the values ​​of anti-fascism, the civic state, multiethnic harmony and the European future of Montenegro," he said.

Nikolić also pointed out that the fight against fascism is not only waged against the ideologies of the past.

"It is led through the defense of institutions, freedom of thought, the dignity of every human being and the right for differences to be our wealth, not a reason for division. That is why May 9th is both a reminder and an obligation — to preserve the civic character of Montenegro, to defend democratic values ​​and to lead our country along the path of European standards, peace and social solidarity. On behalf of the DPS MPs' Club in the Parliament of Montenegro, I congratulate all citizens on Victory Day over Fascism and Europe Day. May Montenegro be eternal!", the statement concludes.

Bečić: May 9th is deeply woven into the identity of our country

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić congratulated May 9th - Victory Day over Fascism and Europe Day.

"Today is not only a reminder of the glorious victory over the darkest ideology in the history of mankind, but also a confirmation that courage, unity and faith in freedom are stronger than any violence and division. Montenegro proved this truth when it was most difficult. On July 13, it was among the first in enslaved Europe to raise the torch of resistance and show that a people who love freedom never agrees to submission. That is why May 9 is deeply woven into the identity of our country. By also marking the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations of the modern European community of peoples, we confirm that the European idea is not just a political project, but a civilizational choice. The choice of peace instead of conflict, dialogue instead of division, justice instead of force and common progress instead of isolation," said Bečić.

Montenegro, he added, stands today on the threshold of a historic goal.

"After two years of reforms, sacrifices and persistent work, our country is entering the final phase of European integration and increasingly confirms that it belongs to the family of the most developed democracies in Europe. May Montenegro bring to the European family what has adorned our people for centuries: a spirit of freedom, multiethnic harmony, natural beauty and unwavering faith in justice," said Bečić.

On the occasion of May 9th - Victory over Fascism Day, Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mirsad Nurković issued a message in which he emphasized the importance of preserving anti-fascist values ​​as the foundation of a modern democratic society.

"May 9th represents one of the most significant dates in the modern history of humanity and a permanent reminder of the victory of freedom, peace and human dignity over an ideology that left behind suffering, destruction and millions of innocent victims. This day is an opportunity to pay tribute with special reverence to all victims of fascism, but also to remember the unforgettable struggle and enormous sacrifices of all those who stood up against the ideology of hatred, violence and intolerance. Anti-fascism is not only a historical achievement, but a universal value on which modern democratic societies are based. Montenegro proudly inherits its libertarian and anti-fascist tradition, and the contribution of our citizens in the fight against fascism remains a permanent obligation to continue building a society based on freedom, equality, mutual respect and the dignity of every human being. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs Nik Đeljošaj said that on Europe Day, we remember the values ​​we share with the European family of peoples, peace, solidarity, the rule of law, economic progress and equal opportunities for all.

"It is precisely on these values ​​that we are building a modern, stable and prosperous Montenegro. The Ministry of Economic Development is strongly contributing to our country's European path through reforms that improve the business environment, strengthen the competitiveness of the economy and create better conditions for the lives of citizens and the business operations of the economy. Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović, sent a congratulatory message to citizens on the occasion of May 9, Victory Day over Fascism and Europe Day.
