Bijelo Polje: Asphalt to arrive in Gorice in ten days

Residents of the Kovren - Gorice road will receive asphalt to their homes in ten days, 3,2 kilometers long, worth around 206.000 euros including VAT. The day before yesterday, work began on the reconstruction of the Pavino Polje - Sokolac road, nine kilometers long, worth around 660.000 euros.

He stated that the works, despite the obstructions and "promises" of the Mayor of the Municipality, Petar Smolović that "without him there is no road construction", started seven days ago and will soon be completed.

Almost simultaneously, the day before yesterday, works began on the reconstruction of the Tomaševo - Sokolac road, nine kilometers long and worth 661.157 euros, which was visited by the Minister of Public Works. Majda Adzović with collaborators.

Kojović said that the 3,2 kilometer long Kovren - Gorice works have been underway for a week and that the company "Konstruktor" is doing very well and everything is according to the project.

"Work is underway to establish the earthen base (underlayment), followed by filling the buffer, concreting the culvert, and then the final phase - asphalting," said Kojović, adding that, weather permitting, the residents of Kovren and Gorica will receive asphalt by May 20th.

For decades, locals have pointed out the catastrophic condition of the road and the neglect of these areas by local government structures.

Kojović reminded that the funds for the construction of the Kovren-Gorice road were provided by an amendment of the New Serbian Democracy and the deputies. Jelena Božović.

"Since the Municipality of Bijelo Polje refused to implement the reconstruction and asphalting projects of the Kovren - Gorice road, the Ministry of Public Works took over these two roads," Kojović reminded.

Smolović has repeatedly claimed that there was no obstruction.

The Europe Movement told "Vijesti" that the funds for the Pavino Polje - Sokolac road were provided by an amendment by the Europe Now Movement MPs. Boris Pejović, Jelenka Andrić, Dražen Petrić i Jelena NedovicAndrić regretted that for decades this road route was used to take the natural resources of the area, especially timber.

"They haven't received any funds for road infrastructure rehabilitation since 1996," said Andrić. Both road routes will significantly improve traffic connectivity and further stimulate economic development in this part of the municipality.
