The Montenegrin flag is once again flying in the streets of Budva after eight years.
Utility workers are placing Montenegrin and Budva Municipality flags along the city boulevard in anticipation of Independence Day, May 21st.
The city was last decorated with Montenegrin flags when Dragan Krapović was the mayor.
In recent years, especially while the city was governed by Marko Bato Carević, the streets were decorated with tricolor flags, as well as the EU flag.
For several years, Montenegrin flags were not even displayed. Two years ago, the administration of then-arrested President Milo Božović symbolically placed one flag at each of the two roundabouts, as a result of a compromise with the local SDP.

Today, when the decoration has begun, flags are flying on all the streetlight poles along the main boulevard.
The political group "Budva Our City" led by the Mayor of the Municipality, Nikola Jovanović, is in power in the city, along with the European Alliance, supported by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).
