The President of the Municipal Board of the Justice and Reconciliation Party (SPP) Bijelo Polje, Admir Camić, announced that he will file criminal charges against the responsible persons if it is determined that the asphalting of roads in the Gubavac Local Community was carried out contrary to the law and to the detriment of the citizens' budget.
In a statement, Camić pointed out the unusual phenomenon that asphalt had become a means of "reconciliation" between the Democratic Party of Socialists and the Bosniak Party in this area, ironically calling it "black gold".
"In addition to certain positive activities carried out by the local government, the fact that asphalt has apparently become the most effective means of reconciling the government and the opposition in the territory of the Gubavac local community is attracting particular public attention," says Camić.
The statement highlights suspicions that state resources are being used to resolve private disagreements and satisfy the interests of individuals close to the government and the opposition.
"It seems that state asphalt, especially when it ends up on private properties, represents a universal solution to all previous disagreements. We will submit a request to investigate the possible asphalting of the private properties of local councilors, as well as political party activists in the Gubavac local community," said Camić.
The Bijelo Polje Municipal Executive Office emphasizes that they will officially request the competent institutions to verify all field work in order to determine whether there was any abuse of official position.
"If it is determined that there were illegalities in these actions, the Municipal Assembly of SPP Bijelo Polje will file criminal charges against the responsible persons without delay. Transparency, equal treatment of citizens and the lawful work of local self-government must be above party and personal interests," concludes the statement signed by Admir Camić.
