The President of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Dario Vraneš, today presented Svetlana Miljić with the "Dragana Loncović" award, which the local government gives to the best nurse in that city.
Svetlana Miljić, a gynecological and obstetric nurse, has been employed at the Pljevlja General Hospital for 45 years.
The "Dragana Loncović" Award, established in 2023 in honor of Dragana Loncović, who was the first victim of the coronavirus among medical workers in Pljevlja. She worked in a Covid clinic and passed away on August 16, 2020 at the age of 36.
As stated in a statement from the local administration, Svetlana Miljić has demonstrated a high level of expertise, responsibility and dedication to patients in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics during her decades of work, leaving a strong professional and human mark on her profession. She is married and a mother of five children.
Presenting the award to this year's winner, Vraneš emphasized the importance of the "Dragana Loncović" award, which preserves the memory of humanity, sacrifice and dedication to the nursing profession. He emphasized that nurses and technicians represent one of the most important pillars of the healthcare system, and expressed his gratitude to all medical workers who responsibly and selflessly care for the health of citizens on a daily basis.
"This recognition is an expression of gratitude to all nurses and technicians who, on a daily basis, quietly and dedicatedly, care for the health and lives of citizens, nurturing the highest values of the nursing profession, humanity, responsibility and selflessness," said Vraneš.
The commission, consisting of Dr. Miloš Zarubica, President of the Commission, Marko Terzić, Director of the Health Center, Dženana Muslić, Director of the Public Institution Home for the Elderly, Katarina Loncović and Sanja Đondović, Secretary of the Secretariat for Culture, Social and Other Issues, made a unanimous decision on this year's winner.
