Locals using the Kovren-Gorice road have received the first meters of asphalt, and in the coming days the reconstruction of the 3,2-kilometer road, worth around 206.000 euros including VAT, will be fully completed.
Almost simultaneously, about ten days ago, the reconstruction of the Pavino Polje - Sokolac road, nine kilometers long, worth around 660.000 euros, began.
This was told to "Vijesti" by a representative of the locals. Momcilo Kojović, reminding that the road is being built despite numerous obstructions by the Mayor of the Municipality Petar Smolović.
Kojović said that the 3,2 kilometer long Kovren-Gorica works have been underway for 7 days and that the company "Konstruktor" is working very well and everything is according to the project.
"The residents of that part of the municipality experienced the long-awaited asphalting of the road, after all the backfilling work was completed."
For decades, locals have pointed out the catastrophic condition of the road and the neglect of these areas by local government structures.
Kojović reminded that the funds for the construction of the Kovren-Gorice road were provided by an amendment of the New Serbian Democracy and the MPs. Jelena Božović.
"Since the Municipality of Bijelo Polje refused to implement the reconstruction and asphalting projects of the Kovren-Gorice road, the Ministry of Public Works took over these two roads," Kojović reminded.
Smolović has repeatedly claimed that there was no obstruction.
The Europe Movement told "Vijesti" that the funds for the Pavino Polje-Sokolac road were provided by an amendment by the Europe Now Movement MPs. Boris Pejović, Jelenka Andrić, Dražen Petrić i Jelena NedovicAndrić said that for decades this road route was used to take the natural resources of the area, especially timber.
"Since 1996, they have not received any funds for the rehabilitation of road infrastructure," said Andrić.
