As part of preparations for marking the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro's independence, several institutions have submitted requests for additional funding for program activities planned for 2026, according to information published by the Coordination Body for the Organization of the Jubilee.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested 150.000 euros for the organization of receptions at diplomatic and consular missions of Montenegro, as well as the implementation of accompanying activities. As stated in the information, the request states that the planned activities are aimed at additional promotion of Montenegro in the region, Europe and the world, affirmation of the country's achievements in the period from the restoration of independence to the present day, as well as strengthening the international reputation of Montenegro in a year of special political and diplomatic importance.
The Ministry of Diaspora is requesting 25.000 euros for the organization of events dedicated to the role of the diaspora in the process of restoring independence, including accompanying programs aimed at strengthening cooperation with the diaspora and affirming common values and state identity.
The Ministry of Culture and Media has submitted an initiative for financial support for the organization of the 20th International Podgorica Book and Education Fair, which is being held in the jubilee year and has, as it is emphasized, a special cultural and social significance for Montenegro. The coordination body has considered the possibility of providing support for this program in accordance with the available budget funds and planned activities to mark the jubilee, the information states.
It is additionally stated that it is necessary to provide 110.000 euros for the Music Center of Montenegro for the implementation of musical, stage and production activities as part of the celebration of the anniversary.
The company "Nova Pobjeda" doo Podgorica has submitted a request for funding for the project "Publication on the occasion of 20 years since the restoration of independence", in the amount of 9.680 euros including VAT. The publication would, as stated, present the most significant social, political and development achievements of Montenegro in the period from the restoration of independence to the present day, as well as the affirmation of state values and results achieved during that period.
The coordination body was also submitted a request from the organizers of the "Fashion Bridges of the Balkans" event, requesting 5.000 euros for a regional fashion event planned for May 25 at Independence Square in Podgorica, with the participation of designers from the region. The letter stated that the event brings together renowned fashion designers from the region, and that the event, through cultural and artistic content, promotes the values of regional connectivity, cooperation and togetherness in the context of marking the anniversary.
The information assesses that the planned activities are significant for promoting the country, strengthening international cooperation, affirming cultural values, and including the diaspora in celebrating the anniversary, and that financial support options will be considered in accordance with the budget framework and priorities of the celebration program.
