The Party of European Progress (SEP) asked the Prime Minister and the Europe Now Movement (PES) Milojko Spajić whether his party considers high school graduates in one municipality to be more valuable than their peers in other parts of Montenegro.
They said they were reacting to the PES initiative to grant one-time support to high school graduates in the amount of 100 euros exclusively in Nikšić, which, they believe, introduces unequal treatment of young people in Montenegro.
"Supporting young people and helping families during the completion of their education is an important obligation of the state. Such measures cannot be the subject of separate decisions or depend on the place of residence, but must be based on the principle of equal and consistent treatment of all high school graduates. If there is a real intention to improve the position of high school graduates, the Party of European Progress expects the Government of Montenegro to provide a single and equal approach for all high school graduates. Any deviation from this principle represents a violation of equality and opens up space for selective practices in the distribution of public funds," the SEP statement states.
In that party, they consistently support measures that improve the position of young people in Montenegro, but they also clearly point to decisions that deviate from the principle of equality and create differences between them.
"Graduates and young people in our cities have the same needs and the same rights as their peers, whom your party has excluded and discriminated against with this proposal and in this way. The right of graduates to support must not depend on the place of residence and the place where your politicians' populism is expressed, but must be equally guaranteed for everyone in the country. Correct the mistake and give all graduates in Montenegro 100 euros from the budget. I guess that's how much will be left after the series of banquets for which you have already paid," the statement concludes.
