Within the framework of the planned projects that are part of the Local Environmental Protection Plan for the period 2026-2030. The Municipality of Kolašin also includes the reduction of harmful gas emissions and the development of sustainable mobility. The Plan foresees several investments worth over one million euros that should contribute to the energy transition and improve the quality of life of citizens.
One of the key projects is the elimination of fossil fuels in buildings owned by the Municipality of Kolašin. The project, worth around 700.000 euros, will be implemented, as foreseen, by the Municipality in cooperation with the Eco Fund and the Electric Power Company of Montenegro. The goal is to replace existing heating systems based on fossil fuels with modern solutions that use renewable energy sources.
The implementation of the project is expected to lead to a significant reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from public buildings, lower fossil fuel consumption, and an increase in the number of buildings that will use renewable energy sources. Financing will be provided from the municipal budget, the Eco Fund, and international funds.
The local government is also focusing on the development of carbon-free transport. Around 450.000 euros will be needed for projects promoting cycling, walking and electromobility, along with the construction of cycling infrastructure. The project leader is the Municipality, while the partners are the Tourist Organization and the Ministry of Transport.
The plan is to expand the network of bicycle paths, increase the number of users of alternative modes of transport and reduce emissions from traffic. Funds for implementation will be provided through IPA funds and the municipal budget.
The Plan announced that Kolašin will further develop its electromobility infrastructure through a project to install electric charging stations for electric vehicles. The project, worth 200.000 euros, is expected to be implemented in the next four years in cooperation with EPCG and the private sector, with the aim of creating conditions for greater use of electric cars.
Among the main indicators of the project's success will be the number of charging stations installed, the number of electric vehicle users and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. Financial support is planned from the Eco Fund and private sector investments.
An additional incentive for the green transition will be the project to subsidize the purchase of electric vehicles for citizens and businesses. Within the framework of this initiative, it is planned to allocate between 50.000 and 300.0000, depending on the number of users and the amount of subsidies.
Partners in the project are planned to be the Ministry of Ecology, the Environmental Protection Fund, the Ministry of Transport, EPCG, commercial banks, leasing companies, car dealers and non-governmental organizations. The goal is to increase the number of electric vehicles in the municipality, reduce air and noise pollution, and encourage citizens and businesses to use sustainable modes of transport.
The local government expects that these projects will significantly contribute to the positioning of Kolašin as an environmentally responsible and sustainable tourist destination, ready for the challenges of green transition and climate change.
