The non-governmental organization (NGO) International Women's Club of Montenegro (IWCMG) donated medical equipment worth 12 thousand euros to the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG).
As stated by the KCCG, the donation is a confirmation of a long-standing partnership and commitment to improving the conditions of treatment and patient stay in the largest healthcare institution in the country.
It is stated that the MCMG donated an electrocardiogram (ECG machine) for the needs of the Nephrology Clinic, as well as the adaptation and purchase of furniture for the admission clinic of the Department of Laboratory Diagnostics of the Institute for Children's Diseases (IBD).
"This is another in a series of donations from the MCCG, totaling 12 thousand euros, which has donated around 300 thousand euros to our institution since its establishment, making a significant contribution to improving the healthcare system and the quality of conditions for patients and medical staff," said the MCCG.
Director of the Croatian Cultural Center of Montenegro Aleksandar Radović thanked the Croatian Cultural Center of Montenegro for all donations so far.
"In this way, we show that we are a humane society and that humanity exists at all levels. The very idea of helping the healthcare system and supporting institutions through donations is something that exists everywhere in the world, even in clinics that have much larger budgets," said Radović.
He said that the IBD Laboratory Diagnostics Department is staffed by exceptional professionals.
"Who, in the conditions and with the resources we have, are making a huge effort to ensure that our patients receive quality healthcare. Thanks to their work, medicine in Montenegro can now stand shoulder to shoulder with the countries of the region," Radović pointed out.
He said that in a small country it is not easy to make a selection and provide a sufficient number of professional staff.
"But I believe that we are managing to keep up and continue to make progress. Montenegro is making maximum efforts to improve the healthcare system, both technologically and spatially, and projects like this and community support further encourage us to continue on that path," Radović added.
The President of the MCCG, Jana Cvijić Rodić, said that this NGO has been organizing the Diplomatic Humanitarian Bazaar since 2009 and that it is a special pleasure for them to have had the opportunity to contribute to the work of the MCCG throughout all these years.
"So far, thanks to this bazaar and all the people of good will who support it, nearly 300 thousand euros have been donated for the needs of the KCCG," said Cvijić Rodić.
Founder and Board member of MKŽCG Zorica Mišković Pavićević said that she is happy when she sees that donations are directed towards children and improving the conditions of their treatment and stay in the hospital.
"Today's renovated premises and new equipment are confirmation that through joint efforts we can make beautiful and important changes for the entire community. We are happy and proud to be part of such projects and will continue to support initiatives aimed at the common good and helping those who need it most," said Mišković Pavicevic.
The Head of the Department for Laboratory Diagnostics of IBD, Olja Manđarelo, thanked the Ministry of Women's Affairs of Montenegro for their humane act of providing a space adapted to the youngest patients.
She said the laboratory represents the first step towards diagnosing and treating children.
"And it's very important that at that moment they feel safe, welcome, and know that they have come to a place where they will receive help," said Manđarelo.
The head of the Day Hospital for Nephrology and Hemodialysis, Vladimir Prelević, said that 96 patients are currently being treated with hemodialysis at the KCCG.
"The total number of patients undergoing dialysis in Montenegro is 250, so almost half of them are undergoing dialysis at the KCCG, the largest dialysis center in the country, where the most seriously ill and complex patients in the entire country are cared for, who need support in terms of kidney function replacement methods," Prelević explained.
According to him, that is why the donation to the MCCG is significant.
"Especially in the form of the donation of an ECG as a device that is very important to us because it records the electrical activity of the heart, especially because our patients are often at risk of developing various types of heart rhythm disorders," said Prelević.
He stated that improving the quality of patient care is the focus of the KCCG agenda.
Prelević added that Montenegro also has a small number of nephrologists who care for a large number of patients, not only patients on hemodialysis who have some stage of chronic kidney disease, but also patients with kidney transplants.
"So there is a lot of pressure and challenges for everyone involved in patient care. So, any recognition and validation of our work, especially in terms of improving the quality of care for our patients, is very important, for which we are grateful," Dr. Prelević emphasized.
