The celebration of 77 years of operation of the "Dušo Basekić" kindergarten in Bijelo Polje brought together numerous guests at the Bijelo Polje Cultural Center.
The celebration was marked by a program filled with smiles, songs, dances, along with interesting performances, imaginative choreographies, and recitations prepared by educators with the little ones.
Director Dijana Kovačević highlighted the success of the institution through rich activities, humanitarian projects, adaptation of space and valuable awards from the 20th Education Fair "Putokazi" in Novi Sad.
The director of the "Dušo Basekić" Kindergarten, Dijana Kovačević, said that today they are not only celebrating 77 years of the kindergarten, but also the same number of years of love, growing up, first steps, tears, smiles and first dreams.
“The kindergarten that proudly bears the name of teacher Dušan Duša Basekić is not just a place where children stay while their parents are at work. This is their second home. A place where little hands are separated from their parents' for the first time, where they are greeted with warmth, patience and a hug. This is the nest from which children prepare for their first flight. And for that flight to be safe, strong wings of love, attention and trust are needed.
That is why the role of educators is enormous, often greater than we can imagine. Because the earliest childhood leaves the deepest and indelible mark on the little souls from which future people grow. In those first years, not only the first letters and numbers are learned - it is here that we learn how to love, forgive, share, it is here that the roadmap to becoming a good person is written. Teachers transmit knowledge, but educators shape the foundations of personality," said Kovačević.
She emphasized that the past year was filled with numerous activities, gatherings, and beautiful moments.
“Our kindergarten this year was once again a place of play, creativity, learning and children's joy — a space in which talent, imagination, friendship and love for true values are developed. We organized a large number of workshops, performances, educational activities and projects through which children learned, explored and grew. We opened a festival of speeches, recitations and dramatic creativity, through which our little ones showed creativity, courage and the beauty of children's expression.
During the year, we marked numerous significant dates and activities: Earth Day, World Health Day, Roma Day, Down Syndrome Day, International Children's Day, Children's Sunday, Autism Awareness Day, Empathy Days, Poverty Day, New Year's holidays and many other events.
"Our little ones were part of the humanitarian event "I won - you will win too", organized by the NGO "Hug with the heart - Martin and Andrija", where they sent strong messages of love, support and solidarity with their performance," the director emphasized.
She noted that it was not only the children who were active during the year, but also the educators who, with their acting performances, brought joy not only to our children, but also to children from other institutions.
During the year, children participated in numerous art competitions and demonstrated their rich imagination, creativity, and talent through their works.
"We also continued our participation in significant projects and programs: "Say Hello to the World", "Caring Families" and "Family-Oriented Early Intervention" in cooperation with UNICEF.
We opened the VJ "Maya the Bee 1", while "Maya the Bee 2" was adapted. We would like to express our special gratitude for the support and assistance in the adaptation to the artists Sead-Sej Kajabegović and Dražen Konatar, as well as to the Rotary Club led by Sreto Pavićević.
Also, the sidewalk and storage room were renovated at the "Pčelica" military prison in Pruška. A new fence was installed at the Leptirić military prison.
We have equipped a sensory room and adapted the library, which has created better conditions for the development, learning and stay of our children,” she said. The kindergarten, explained Director Kovačević, also implemented a seminar on “Project Planning”. The teachers continuously attend seminars and improve their skills, because only through constant learning can we provide the best for children. As Kovačević emphasized, the significant awards that our kindergarten received this year brought special joy and pride.
"At the 20th Education Fair "Putokazi" in Novi Sad, we were awarded three gold medals, two large gold medals and a cup, which confirmed the quality of our work, dedication to children's development and fostering inclusive education. These awards belong to the entire team, children, parents and everyone who, together with us, builds a beautiful and warm kindergarten story. On this occasion, we would like to thank the teachers for their hard work and great work," said the director, who finally thanked numerous individuals and organizations as well as the Municipality for their cooperation and numerous donations.
She announced that in the coming period, in cooperation with the "Marko Miljanov" Elementary School and the "Pavle Žižić" Elementary School in Njegnjevo, they will also have a mediator for social inclusion, which represents another important step towards creating equal opportunities for every child.
"In kindergarten, the first friendships are formed, the first arguments, then reconciliations, the first tears, the most sincere smiles and the first sympathies. Children learn to believe in themselves and in others. And that is precisely why, what they take away from kindergarten, they carry with them throughout their lives. Generations of children have passed through our kindergarten. Some are now parents, teachers, doctors, workers, good people... but all of them, somewhere deep inside, carry a part of the kindergarten yard, workrooms, images of their teachers and carefree childhood. It gives us great pleasure that today, together with you, we are creating memories that our little ones will carry in their hearts for a long time.
We wish the children who are starting school soon much happiness, success, new friendships and beautiful moments in the years to come. We believe that they will continue to grow into good, curious and successful people.
"That's why today, with pride and gratitude, we celebrate all the years that are behind us, but with impatience and joy we await other small steps that are yet to come," said the director.
