UPS: Two swimmers rescued near Čanj, report missing swimmers to 129

The Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) rescued two swimmers near Čanj today, the MSA announced.

"The crew of the SAR-5 vessel of the Maritime Safety Administration rescued two people today near Čanj, a Spanish citizen and a Polish citizen, after the man swam too far from the coast, in the direction of Sutomore, and was unable to return on his own," the statement said.

UPS added that the call was received at around 14 p.m. on number 129.

"A citizen reported that a woman approached him on the shore and asked for help, stating that her companion had swum too far and could not return. The Maritime Safety Administration immediately dispatched a SAR-5 vessel with a crew to the location. The crew first picked up the woman, then located the man, who was swimming towards the vessel, and safely brought him aboard. Both individuals were then safely returned to shore near Crveni bregovi beach. The intervention was completed in less than an hour, with no injuries," the statement reads.

UPS said they are urging "bathers to exercise caution in the open sea, as it is easy to overestimate one's own strength and distance from shore."

They stated that any swimmer missing from sight should be reported immediately to 129.
