Komunalno Danilovgrad, in cooperation with other municipal services, competent institutions and animal protection organizations, is working intensively to find a permanent and sustainable solution for the care of dogs from Klikovače, a representative from that public company told "Vijesti" yesterday.
"The priority remains their well-being, but also preserving the safety and quality of life of all citizens of the Danilovgrad municipality," they stated in their response.
Over the weekend, an animal rights activist Daliborka Rešetar announced that in Klikovače, near Danilovgrad, at one location, more than 30 Staffordshire bull terriers are being kept in extremely poor conditions, that the dogs are without adequate food and water, visibly starving and in a state of health danger.
"Immediately after learning about the event, the Danilovgrad Municipal Company undertook all activities within its jurisdiction to dispose of the animals in a safe, humane and responsible manner. In a very short time, teams with trucks and the necessary machinery, including a grapple, and manpower were sent to the field... The dogs were moved to a safe location...", the Danilovgrad company told "Vijesti".
The municipal police service, they added, was on duty at the scene and securing the location.
"The Danilovgrad Municipal Authority insists that the perpetrators of this unacceptable act be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law, so that those responsible are brought to justice and to prevent the recurrence of similar cases in the future," they said.
The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica announced two days ago that they are still establishing the facts and collecting evidence about the case from Klikovače. The Directorate for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs told "Vijesti" that they will file criminal charges against several persons and on several grounds.
Activist Marta Darmanović She said two days ago that the hardest part begins with placing the dogs safely - that 32 dogs need to be provided with daily feeding, cleaning, veterinary care, where it is possible to socialize the dogs and, most difficult of all - finding a home for each of them.
