Measures restricting movement and stopping traffic are in force at several locations in the southern and central regions of Montenegro, including the roads from the Sitnica border crossing to Tivat and from Podgorica Airport via Cetinje and Budva to Tivat, the Police Directorate announced.
The police said that their officers, in cooperation with intelligence and security sector authorities, have begun implementing restrictive measures and limiting movement at previously announced locations in order to secure routes and carry out security activities on the occasion of the European Union - Western Balkans Summit.
"Currently, movement restriction measures are in force in several locations in the southern and central regions of the country, including the route from the Sitnica border crossing to Tivat, as well as the Podgorica Airport - Cetinje - Budva - Tivat road route," the statement said.
As explained by the police, the measures include a complete traffic stop and restrictions on the movement of all vehicles, except for vehicles of protected persons, official delegations, and services engaged in the implementation of security tasks.
"The Police Directorate is simultaneously implementing enhanced security and protection measures in a wider area of operation," the statement said.
The police called on citizens to be understanding, patient, and cooperate with police officers in the field.
"We thank the citizens for their responsible attitude and contribution to the smooth implementation of security activities of importance to Montenegro," the Police Directorate said.
