Every generation has its own historical task, ours is to build the healthcare of the future, announced Minister of Health Vojislav Šimun.

The Ministry of Health announced today that the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, and Šimun attended the signing of the contract for the implementation of the project to build the new University Clinical Center of Montenegro between the Ministry of Public Works and the French company "Bouygues Batiment International", which, as stated in the statement, officially marked the beginning of a new development phase of one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the history of the Montenegrin healthcare system.

The contract for the design and construction of the new University Clinical Center of Montenegro in Podgorica was signed on June 4 by the Minister of Public Works, Majda Adžović, and Christophe Petty, Deputy General Director of the company "Bouygues Batiment Internationel".

The Ministry of Health said that the signing of the contract created "conditions for the continuation of activities on the design and preparation of the construction of the future complex of the University Clinical Center, which will represent a new backbone of the tertiary level of healthcare in Montenegro and a response to the needs of modern medicine and future generations of patients."

"Every generation has its own historical task. Ours is to build the healthcare of the future. Today, we are not just creating the foundation of a new healthcare institution, but we are laying the foundations of a system that will provide future generations of citizens with safer, higher quality and more accessible healthcare. The new University Clinical Center will be a place where top-notch medicine, science, education and humanity will meet, for the benefit of every citizen of Montenegro," said Šimun.

The Ministry of Health said that the new University Clinical Center will be built within the existing complex of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG) and that it will cover more than 59.000 square meters of gross developed area.

"A special focus of the project is placed on the development of pediatric capacities, so the new University Clinical Center will have a modern children's hospital designed according to the latest European standards. Around 150 beds will be provided within the children's part of the center, which will significantly improve the conditions for the treatment of the youngest citizens of Montenegro," the Ministry of Health said.

The government department announced that the future complex will include a new emergency center with significantly expanded capacities for urgent patient care, and that the establishment of a modern IVF center, as well as training and simulation centers for the education of medical personnel, is also planned.

"Thanks to the vision and leadership of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, the state has made a strategic decision to place health among its most important development priorities. The new University Clinical Center will become a central institution of knowledge, expertise and innovation in Montenegrin healthcare, a place where new generations of doctors and healthcare professionals will be educated, medical science will be developed and healthcare of the highest quality will be provided. The government of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić is creating a healthcare institution that will serve the citizens of Montenegro for the next several generations," said Šimun.

The statement states that "with the construction of the new University Clinical Center, Montenegro is making a historic step towards a modern, resilient and sustainable healthcare system."

"We owe special thanks to the Ministry of Public Works, headed by Minister Majda Adžović, who will oversee the further phases of the project, as well as to the Ministry of Finance, headed by Minister Novica Vuković, who provided the necessary financial structure for the implementation of this project," concluded Šimun.
