The exhibition concluded a project in which children from Bar learned about significant women from the world of art and science.

The final exhibition and presentation of the project "In the Traces of Artists - From Heritage to Imagination" was held at the "Velimir A. Leković" gallery in Bar, within which children's art works were created during an eight-month educational program implemented from October 2025 to June 2026.

As announced by the Bar Cultural Center, the project was led by academic sculptor and art workshop mentor, M.A. Milijana Istijanović, and its goal was to introduce children and young people to the work of significant women from the world of art and science, through observation, conversation, and their own creative expression.

During the program, 65 children from Bar, aged 6 to 16, explored the figure and work of artists and scientists such as Svetlana Kana Radević, Barbara Hepworth, Olga Jančić, Desanka Maksimović, Maja Anđelou, Jajoi Kusama, Louise Bourgeois, Olga Jevrić, Nadežda Petrović, Frida Kahlo, Maria Curie, Mileva Marić Einstein and Clara Schumann. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, illustration and graphic design workshops, hundreds of works were created, which, as announced, testify to a continuous and diverse creative process.

The workshops, according to the organizers, were conceived as a space for free expression and artistic exploration, with a focus on developing aesthetic sensitivity, critical thinking, and self-confidence in children.

The final exhibition presented a selection of works created during the project, providing the audience with insight into the different artistic approaches and themes explored by the participants.

As part of the accompanying program, from June 5 to 7, drawing workshops, guided tours of the exhibition, and discussions with participants were held, during which the children had the opportunity to present themselves both as authors and as active participants in the cultural life of the community.

The project "In the Footsteps of Women Artists - From Heritage to Imagination" affirmed art as a space for learning, dialogue and encounters between tradition and contemporary creativity, but also as a tool for developing children's creativity and cultural awareness, with a special focus on the contribution of women in art and science, said the Cultural Center of Bar.

The exhibition was open to visitors from June 5 to 10, 2026, and the project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro.
