Last year, the State Prosecutor's Office resolved more than 31 cases, which, according to the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office (SPO), confirms the continuous trend of improving work efficiency.
It is stated that the State Prosecutor's Office achieved exceptional results in its work last year, achieving a high level of efficiency, organizational skills and readiness to respond to the increased workload in all areas of its jurisdiction.
"Last year, the State Prosecutor's Office resolved 144,44 percent of the cases received in that year. 9.634 more cases were resolved than were received," the statement said.
As it is added, in addition to the received cases, numerous backlogged cases from previous years have also been resolved, which, as stated, has led to a reduction in the total number of backlogged cases and a significant improvement in work efficiency.
"In the reporting period, 21.6801 new cases were formed, which represents an increase of 16,60 percent compared to 2024, when 18.592 cases were formed," the statement said.
The VDT stated that the trend of increasing the influx of cases has been present for several years, bearing in mind that 16.084 new cases were formed in 2023, and 15.694 in 2022.
They stated that together with 12.977 cases carried over from previous years, the State Prosecutor's Office handled a total of 35.575 cases last year.
"Despite the significant increase in workload, a record 31.314 cases were resolved during the year, which is 77,2 percent more than in 2024, when 17.674 cases were resolved," the statement said.
The State Prosecutor's Office stated that compared to 2023, the number of resolved cases is 97 percent higher, while compared to 2022, there was a growth of 111,7 percent.
"These results confirm the continuous trend of improving work efficiency, with the number of resolved cases growing by an average of 27,5 percent annually in the period from 2022 to last year," the VDT said.
The State Prosecutor's Office, as stated, resolved almost the entire number of cases that arrived last year (98.31 percent), demonstrating a high degree of promptness.
"This significantly reduced the backlog and increased the total volume of resolved cases," the VDT said in a statement.
They stated that a significant increase in activity was also recorded in misdemeanor proceedings.
It is added that during the past year, 859 requests were filed before misdemeanor courts, while together with cases transferred from the previous period, there were a total of 1.072 cases in progress.
"Compared to 2024, this represents an increase of 215,81 percent, indicating a significant intensification of action in this area," the statement said.
The State Prosecutor's Office stated that, in addition to working on cases, state prosecutors attended 20.055 main hearings and sessions before first-instance and second-instance courts.
This, it is added, testifies to the intensive professional engagement and continuous performance of the function of criminal prosecution before the courts.
"The achieved results confirm that the State Prosecutor's Office has improved the efficiency and quality of its work through legal, responsible and professional action," the statement said.
As stated, the record number of resolved cases, high level of promptness and ability to respond to the continuously growing influx of cases testify to the stability and commitment of the State Prosecutor's Office.
"The aforementioned results represent a significant contribution to the protection of the public interest, strengthening the rule of law, and improving citizens' trust in the judicial system as a whole," the statement concludes.
