The German Embassy has donated over 12 euros to the Operational Communications Center (OKC) to improve services, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced.
It is stated that the handover was attended by the Director General of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, Miodrag Bešović, the Ambassador and Consul at the German Embassy in Montenegro, Peter Felten and Franciska Haze.
As it is added, the donation, worth up to 12,4 thousand euros, was provided through the project "Improving Working Conditions at OKC 112", which the German Embassy in Podgorica supported with the aim of improving the working environment of employees at OKC 112.
"The funds were used to fully equip and functionally arrange the OKC 112 workspace, adapt the premises, as well as to create a higher quality and more pleasant working environment for employees who work daily on receiving and processing emergency calls from citizens," the statement said.
Bešović thanked the German Embassy and Felten for their support and recognition of the importance of investing in the protection and rescue system.
Felten, as stated, expressed his deepest appreciation for the dedication of OKC employees, which often saves lives, as well as for their willingness and dedication to work.
"He also expressed hope that the support provided in equipping OKC 112 will contribute to improving working conditions," the statement added.
Bešović said that OKC 112 represents a key link in the protection and rescue system and a single point for receiving emergency calls from citizens.
"By improving the working conditions of our employees, we create the conditions for an even more efficient, high-quality and professional response in situations when citizens need help the most. This donation represents an investment in people who care about the safety of citizens and the coordination of emergency services 24 hours a day," said Bešović.
The statement states that the Directorate for Protection and Rescue remains committed to further improving the capacities of OKC 112 and strengthening international cooperation with partners who recognize the importance of developing the protection and rescue system in Montenegro.
"The donation represents another example of successful cooperation between Montenegro and Germany and confirms the joint commitment to strengthening institutions that work in the interest of the security of citizens," the statement said.
