The adaptation of the "Mirko Srzentić" Elementary School (OS) in Petrovac began today, making an important step towards improving the educational infrastructure in that part of the Budva municipality, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI) announced.

The government department said that the start of the works was made official by the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Anđela Jakšić Stojanović, and the Mayor of Budva Municipality, Nikola Jovanović.

The Ministry of National Infrastructure and Transport stated that the project is worth 338.664 euros including value added tax (VAT), which is being jointly implemented by the Ministry of National Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Public Works.

"The planned works include the adaptation of electrical and thermal installations, as well as the interior decoration of the school, with the aim of creating a more functional, safer and more modern environment for students and teaching staff," the statement says.

It is stated that during the tour of the school, details of the project were presented, and the importance of continued investment in educational infrastructure was discussed, as well as further plans for improving working conditions in educational institutions.

Jakšić Stojanović emphasized that this is a continuation of intensive activities to reconstruct school buildings throughout Montenegro.

"Every new construction site in the field of education is a step closer to the standards that our children deserve. After the reconstruction of the roof, for which almost half a million EUR was allocated from the Ministry's budget, we continue with work on improving the installations and interior space of the school," said Jakšić Stojanović.

As she stated, the beginning of these works sends a clear message that they do not compromise when it comes to the safety and comfort of students and teachers.

"Our goal is a motivating environment, and efficient cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works confirms that we are turning promises into concrete actions," emphasized Jakšić Stojanović.

The Ministry of Public Works said that the adaptation of the "Mirko Srzentić" Elementary School represents a significant investment in improving the conditions for the education of children in Petrovac.

This department, as stated in the statement, will continue to invest in educational infrastructure, because responsible policy is best reflected in creating better opportunities for children and youth, who are the most important resource and greatest potential of the state.

"The adaptation of this space provides a higher quality, safer and more functional school space, adapted to the needs of students and teachers," the statement added.

The Ministry of Education and Science said that during the visit, Jakšić Stojanović and representatives of the local government discussed the next steps with the school administration, including additional equipment for offices and classrooms by the start of the next school year.

"With the implementation of this project, students and employees of the Mirko Srzentić Elementary School will receive significantly improved working and learning conditions, making the school an example of continuous investment in the quality of education," said the Ministry of Education and Science.
